CORONAVIRUS cases in Colchester increased by 146 in the last 24 hours, official figures show.
A total of 14,246 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 in Colchester when the UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated today (Wednesday), up from 14,100 on Tuesday.
The rate of infection in Colchester now stands at 7,317 cases per 100,000 people, lower than the England average of 8,619.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 43,404 over the period, to 5,563,006.
However, there were no new coronavirus deaths recorded in the latest 24-hour period in Colchester.

The dashboard shows 377 people had died in the area by today (Wednesday) – which was unchanged from Tuesday.
It means there has been one death in the past week, which is an increase on none the previous week.
They were among 13,463 deaths recorded across the East of England.
The figures also show that three in five people in Colchester have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.
The latest figures show 101,500 people had received both jabs by Tuesday – 61 per cent of those aged 18 and over, based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.
