The main towns offer a unique selection of independent shops as well as popular high street names or if you are looking to whet your appetite an array of country pubs, restaurants, fish and chip shops, cafés and coffee shops are in abundance.

With easy links by road, rail or bus – and lots of parking, much of it free – it’s an easily accessible destination for either a long weekend break, family or group holiday, or just a simple day out.

2021 is the year Clacton celebrates its 150th anniversary. An array of projects and celebratory events have been planned to commemorate this occasion.

Gazette:

The National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) has funded a new seafront heritage trail covering more than five miles of beautiful coastline from Jaywick Sands to Holland Haven and incorporating Clacton town centre, to celebrate the milestone. Interactive technology brings the history to life in a fun and engaging way to convey Clacton’s story and the town’s heritage.

A special Clacton 150 flying display will grace the skies along Clacton’s seafront on August 26 and 27, brought to you by the team behind Clacton Airshow. The display will feature the world-famous RAF Red Arrows and highly historic Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, two of Clacton Airshow’s most popular flights and a spectacle not to be missed.

To mark Clacton’s anniversary, both Clacton Pavilion and Clacton Pier have installed observation wheels.  These two new seafront attractions are a welcome addition to the seafront offering panoramic views of the coastline.
