A round-up of cases before magistrates in north Essex over the past week includes a man caught in possession of indencent images of children.

Other results included a fine handed out for the theft of a car and a driving ban imposed for riding an E-scooter while over the legal alchol limit.

  • A MAN found in possession of cannabis was slapped with an £80 fine.

Ricky Harris was found to have the Class B drug in Colchester in April.

He admitted possession of cannabis at Colchester Magistrates' Court and was fined £80.

Harris, of Standard Road, Colchester, was ordered to pay prosecution costs of £105.

  • A MAN is set to appear before a crown court for sentence after admitting to possessing more than 100 indecent images of children.

Abdul Harrah, 24, was found to have 36 images of the most serious Category A.

Appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on June 6, he was also found to have been in possession of 69 images at Category B and 91 at Category C.

Harrah, of Military Road, Colchester, admitted four counts of possessing indecent images of children and one count of possessing 15 extreme pornographic images.

He was released on unconditional bail until a sentencing hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on August 3.

  • A MAN who made threats with knife is set to be sentenced at a crown court.

Kyle Cook, 24, threatened two people with a blade in Mill Road, Colchester, in June last year.

Appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 6, he admitted threatening a person with a blade in a public place.

Cook, of Goldhanger Road, Heybridge, was released on unconditional bail until a hearing at Ipswich Crown Court on August 3.

  • A DRINK driver who got behind the wheel of his van while over the legal limit has been banned form the roads.

Scott Lynch, 31, drove a Ford Transit van on the A12 at Marks Tey while over the legal alcohol limit.

A breath test recorded 61mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

He admitted drink driving at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 6.

Lynch, of Bodmin Road, Chelmsford, was fined £461 and banned from driving for 17 months.

  • A THIEF who stole a car has been hit with a £120 fine.

John O’Shea, 31, stole an Audi A3 from a woman in Clacton in September 2019.

He admitted theft of a motor vehicle when he appeared at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 6.

O’Shea, of Lancaster Way, Braintree, was fined £120 and ordered to pay prosecution costs of £105.

  • A MAN who rode an E-scooter while over the legal alcohol limit was banned from driving for more than a year.

Mark Prichard, 41, rode the scooter in Lexden Road, Colchester, in June.

A breath test recorded 66mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mcg.

Appearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 6, Prichard, of Victoria Road, Colchester, was fined £600 and banned from the roads for 17 months.
