AN elderly resident can once again enjoy her gardens with her son after a group of inspiring young men gave it a new lease of life.

Members of Lads Need Dads, which is a male-led mentoring initiative for boys aged between 11 and 15, tackled two overgrown green spaces in Clacton last week.

The unkept front and back gardens were located at a property belonging to a vulnerable mum who had otherwise struggled to keep on top of them.

After being made aware of the situation by Community Voluntary Services Tendring, Lads Need Dads deployed some of the boys on its programme to help clean it up.

Partnering up with Danny Marvan and employees from his company Marvan’s Tree & Landscape Services, the group completely transformed the gardens.

As a result of their hard and generous work, both the homeowner and her son can now relax and spend time together outside for the first time in a while.

A spokesman for Lads Need Dads said: “Our lads, Freddie, Leo, Harley and Brody did superbly, supported by mentors Bryan, Joel and Matt and our founder, Sonia.

“I think you’ll agree the photos speak for themselves and we are returning to bring garden furniture, curtains and to fix a window.”

The task was undertaken as part of Lads Need Dads’ Engage Community Volunteering Programme which teaches the boys life skills and helps the community.
