PLANS to create a set of new holiday lodges on land behind a village pub have been revealed.
Ariette Everett, the owner of the Peldon Rose, in Mersea Road, Peldon, has applied to Colchester Council for planning permission to build four new lodges on land behind the pub.
Each lodge would be 1.5 storeys tall and have three-bedrooms, a living space, kitchen and bathroom.
They will be arranged either side of an access road, two on each side, and also have outside space with a car port for parking.
A planning statement, prepared by Pomery Planning Consultants, reads: "The application site is an area of cut grassland to the north of the Peldon Rose Public House and to the west of Colchester Road, and south of the settlement of Peldon.
"The land is an open field which is regularly mown and has no formal use, historically the land has been used by the occupants of Rose Barn for occasional recreation.
"Rose Barn is a residential property just to the south of the site.
"Rose Barn and the Peldon Rose Public House are owned by the applicant."
The Peldon Rose is a Grade II listed building due to its construction and architectural detailing.

The report adds: "The field on which the proposals are located is unlikely to have had any meaningful associations with the building as either an early private house or as an inn.
"Given the site’s divorced proximity to the listed building and the building’s association with the road/junction adjacent, rather than the working of the surrounding land, it is considered that the proposal will not impact on the significance of the building or its setting as a heritage asset."
It adds: "The development will not result in any material harm to the character and appearance of the location and will provide high quality visitor accommodation, additional rural employment and assist in the viability of a rural business."
If the proposals are approved they will create four new part-time jobs.
Colchester Council will have the final say on the plans.
