PART of the A120 is blocked after a lorry driver crashed up an embankment.
The carriageway is covered with mud and debris and has been partially closed between the B1008, Chelmsford Road, in Dunmow, and the B1417, at Blake End.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible.
Recovery firm VG Nash and Sons carried out the recovery operation.
The company said a 44-ton articulated truck had left the road and jack-knifed.
