POLICE are appealing for information following an incident which saw a man knocked unconscious and robbed.

Essex Police detectives are continuing their investigation in to the incident which too place in Colchester.

It was reported the victim, a man in his 20s, had been walking along Greenstead Road, near to the junction of Harwich Road, at around 9.30pm on Wednesday, June 9.

Police say he was then struck from behind and knocked unconscious, sustaining injuries to his head and face.

While unconscious, the victims backpack and personal possessions were stolen.

An Essex Police spokesman added: "Three men in high-visibility jackets were seen leaving the scene on foot.

"We need anyone who saw anything or has CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage to contact us.

"We believe there were two people walking on the other side of the road at the time, and we’d urge them to get in touch.

"Enquiries have determined that a First bus was travelling through the area at the time. 

"We’d be keen to speak to any passengers who may have witnessed the incident or anyone leaving the area.

"We're continuing to ask people living in the area to check their driveways for any discarded items.
