DRIVERS are being urged to avoid the A12 following an accident.
Traffic is queuing for about five miles due to an earlier accident on the A12 London Road Northbound from J24 (Kelvedon) to J25 on the A120 (Marks Tey).
The accident was first reported on AA Travel's website shortly after noon.
The road was blocked at about 1.20pm for about 40 minutes Essex Highways has confirmed the road was able to reopen at 2.40pm.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 12.58pm with reports of a collision on the A12 at Feering.
"We sent one ambulance and took a patient to Colchester General Hospital for further care."
