Empathy Day LIVE! returns for its fifth year on 10 June with a free digital programme of events featuring some of the UK’s leading authors and illustrators including Michael Rosen, Cressida Cowell, Malorie Blackman, Michael Morpurgo, Patrice Lawrence, David Baddiel, Jacqueline Wilson and Holly Bourne. The day helps young people learn more about empathy, using books to help them experience its transformational power.

Central to this year’s programme is a new call for families to take their own Empathy Walks led by authors and illustrators including Joseph Coelho and Jane Porter. In the evening, there will also be a cutting-edge evening conversation for adults which will see authors Catherine Johnson, Michael Rosen and David Baddiel speaking to Professor Dr Robin Banerjee, about the role of empathy in society and using books to nurture young people’s empathy skills.

All Empathy Day LIVE! events can be watched on the EmpathyLab website empathylab.UK/empathy-daylive-2021 where you can also find free resources including a Family Activity Pack, short stories and illustrations.
