TWO men have been arrested in connection with two early morning assaults in Colchester town centre.
The incidents both took place in the early hours of Thursday and are being linked by police.
Officers were first called to the welfare of a man in Queen Street just before 3am.
He had been attacked and suffered injuries which are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
He was taken to hospital for treatment.
Officers were also called to reports of an assault shortly before 3.40am in Red Lion Walk.
A woman had sustained facial injuries.
She too was taken to hospital for treatment.
Her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
Two men, both aged 23 and from Colchester, have been arrested on suspicion of actual bodily harm.
They remain in custody for questioning.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "At this stage, we are linking the two incidents and we are appealing for witnesses to both assaults and for information on what happened in the lead up to the incidents.
