2. STATE OF THE ART FACILITIES AND RESOURCES

The college’s facilities are state of the art with an industry standard theatre, TV studio, drama and dance studios, fitness suite, Olympic sized sports hall and large spacious student areas. Classrooms are well equipped and suited for specialist subject areas.

3. EXCITING AND VARIED

ENRICHMENT PROGRAMME: Enrichment provides an interesting range of activities for all students to take part in, including trips to Dubai, Paris, Barcelona, New York, Budapest and many other major world cities. The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award offers students the opportunity to take part in community volunteering such as expeditions to the Black Mountains and the Peak District.

The Leyton Season provides numerous theatre productions and musicals which are open to the public. Expressive Arts students have performed at the National Theatre. LSC has a strong history of sporting success at local, regional and national level with the opportunity for students to take part in a broad range of sports activities.

“Around 80 learners per year achieve a Duke of Edinburgh award, and a large and increasing number gain accreditation for their volunteering and other extra-curricular activities through a programme accredited by a London university. Participation in sporting activities by learners is good, with many taking up regular exercise. 4.VIBRANT & WELCOMING ATMOSPHERE

Leyton is a diverse and safe college which celebrates diversity and achievements through awards ceremonies, musical and theatre productions. The college welcomes students from all abilities, races, faiths, gender, sexual orientation and nationalities. All the college’s facilities are accessible by disabled students.

5. FANTASTIC PROGRESSION

PRESTIGIOUS UNIVERSITIES: Around 600 plus students go on to university each year from both A Level and Vocational courses. Nearly a hundred students gained places at Russell Group universities last year to study a wide range of courses including medicine, dentistry, engineering and many others. The college is committed to ensuring every student leaves prepared for university life.

Students from Leyton also progress to specialist art, drama and music schools. High achieving students are offered the Aim High programme, giving them access to mentoring, masterclasses and application advice from Russell Group universities including Oxford and Cambridge.

6. LSC RATED ‘GOOD’ BY OFSTED

LSC was assessed by Ofsted and given a glowing report. The college sustained ‘Good’ in every single of aspect of its provision. Ofsted commented: ‘Staff have created and sustained a highly inclusive environment, where learners feel safe, work well together and enjoy their studies’.

7.EXCELLENT TUTOR SUPPORT AND ADVOCACY

Every student at Leyton has a personal tutor who works closely with them to review and support their progress throughout their time at the college. Each student benefits from weekly tutorials, one to one support and Academic Review Days.

In addition to supporting the student journey, the tutorial provides every students through the Broadening Horizons programme an opportunity to engage with the undergraduate skills of high level research and analysis.

8. EXPERT STAFF

All staff at the college are highly experienced in their fields and are committed to continuously developing their skills and teaching methods. The college also holds STEM assured status where all the science, technology, engineering and maths courses hold the industry standard.

9. A STUDENT VOICE THAT COUNTS

Student voice is at the core of the college’s provision where students have the opportunity to have a say on every part of their college experience. The student executive and student panels meet regularly with the Principal and Vice Principals to discuss student issues.

10. A POPULAR DESTINATION

Each year, the college interviews over 3,000 students. Last year saw the college’s largest enrolment. To ensure that you have a place, ensure you arrive early on the day you receive your GCSE results from your school.
