A spokesman for Essex Police Colchester said: "After responding to an emergency incident in Rowhedge officers from Colchester Local Policing Team were delighted to meet aspiring PC Finn.
"PC Finn reported to Officers he had arrested his Mum earlier in the morning but he didn't need any back up as he used his own handcuffs.
"PC Finn was a little sketchy on his grounds for arrest but we are sure it was justified .... at least in his eyes.
"We look forward to reading the arrest report."
