POLICE have been granted temporary powers following repeated issues on a beach this afternoon.
A dispersal order has been put in place in Old Leigh and Chalkwell Beach following anti-social behaviour and repeated breaches of Covid-19 regulations.
The order is in place from 7.30pm until 6am tomorrow.
It follows reports of a large group of young people congregating at Chalkwell Beach, consuming alcohol and behaving anti-socially.
In a statement, Essex Police said: “The order has been put in place to prevent crime and disorder and prevent people living in the area being harassed, alarmed or distressed.
“It gives officers powers to move anyone believed to be behaving anti-socially from the area.”
