A SINGER-SONGWRITER who has been writing music for quarter of a century has told of his excitement as he prepares to release his debut single.

Daniel Turner, 38, has been writing his own material since he formed his first band aged 13 as a pupil at Harwich and Dovercourt High School.

And on Friday he will be releasing Come Home, a song which explores not being able to express your true feelings to the one you love until it’s too late.

“This is something I have been dreaming of for years,” he said, “I feel lucky to have this opportunity to publish my own music for anyone to listen to.

“Words can’t describe how excited I am to share my debut single with the world.”

Having found his passion for performing music in his early teens, Daniel began playing the bass guitar in a band called Wireless. After turning 18, they performed regularly in pubs.

From here, they renamed to become The Decca Audition – a professional cover band performing at weddings and parties in the area. Daniel, of Dovercourt, later joined band KIO in 2019.

He added: “Unfortunately, like everyone else in the entertainment industry, we had to cancel all our bookings due to the pandemic.

“It was at this time, during the first lockdown, I decided to record some of my original material at home using only my acoustic and bass guitars, a microphone and an iPad.

“I think the simplicity of how this song was recorded will make it likeable to fans.

“Like everyone, I have missed seeing live bands, going into pubs and venues full of people and that buzzing atmosphere. We all can’t wait to be back on stage performing.

“If there is something I have learnt from this pandemic it is that life really is too short and to seize every opportunity that comes our way - I’m seizing mine right now.”
