IT may have been delayed by a year, but Euro 2020 is now just around the corner.

And football is definitely coming home this year - in one sense at least.

Kicking off on June 11, the tournament is being held across 12 cities in Europe, but many of the games will be played in Britain.

This includes the final at Wembley on Sunday, July 11.

Gareth Southgate's Three Lions are widely tipped as one of the favourites for the tournament, facing Croatia, Czech Republic and arch-rivals Scotland in their group games.

They'll be hoping to go at least one better than they did at the 2018 World Cup in Russia, where they lost to Croatia in the semi-finals.

The extraordinary run sparking huge celebrations across the country and marked a memorable summer in England.

In Colchester we love a celebration and crowds spilled out on to the streets, dancing the night away in Head Street.

Flares were lit and people leapt from the top of lamp posts as hundreds of fans spilled out into the street to celebrate England's remarkable last 16 win.

Shouts of 'football is coming home' were constantly heard along Head Street after knockout stage victories.

Essex Police and the Military Police cast a watchful eye over the celebrations, which were generally good natured.

However, a bus shelter was destroyed in the street after the 2-0 quarter-final victory over Sweden, leading to a police action.

Sadly, not many of us will be lucky enough to get tickets to attend this summer's games in person.

There will be restrictions on the number of supporters at the games due to coronavirus of course, meaning tickets will be even harder to come by.

But there is still plenty of options of where to watch the games in Colchester if you're searching for a party atmosphere.

Here are some of the places where you can watch the games in Colchester town centre:

The Centurion

The North Hill pub was one of the most popular venues for fans during the 2018 World Cup, and this year is likely to be no different.

Photographer Steve Brading captured the jubilant scenes at the pub three-years-ago and let's hope it'll be the same this year.

Walkabout

Walkabout bars across the UK will be playing the football this summer.

The Head Street venue is one of the most popular bars for sports in Colchester.

You need to book in for the fixtures and it is likely to be very busy.

What rules will be in place at pubs?

It is hoped Euro 2020 will provide a major boost the UK's struggling hospitality industry, particularly pubs.

However, there will be rules in place at venues to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Face coverings must be worn when not at a table and there's no ordering from a bar, only table service.

Social distancing will be in place, but there is no curfew on drinkers at the moment.

There is talk Prime Minister Boris Johnson could be thinking of removing some restrictions, such as table service only, from June 21 - but this is not yet confirmed.

Of course, things could go the other way, depending on how coronavirus figures are looking closer to the big kick off on June 11.

Is your pub or bar showing Euro 2020?

We'll put together a more comprehensive list closer to the time so let us know if you're showing the games at your venue.
