Car bursts into flames after crash with lamppost outside Essex station

A car burst into flames after crashing into a lamppost outside a Southend train station.

Emergency crews, including the police and fire service, were spotted at the scene outside Victoria Station around 3am on Saturday (May 22).

Firefighters were called after receiving reports that one vehicle which had collided with a lamppost and caught fire.

The team were able to quickly extinguish the fire by 3.34am, before the scene was left in the care of the police and highways agency.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious and has been recorded as accidental.
