ALMOST all of Colchester is once against nearly Covid free, with just one area recording more than three cases in a week.

According to the latest Government hotspots map, just one neighbourhood in the town recorded three or more cases in the week to May 18.

Mile End and Braiswick recorded three cases during this seven day period.

Every other part of the borough recorded less than three cases.

This means the virus is classed as "suppressed" in these parts of the area.

  • Greenstead - less than three
  • Abbey Field - less than three
  • Highwoods - less than three
  • New Town & Hythe - less than three
  • Stanway - less than three
  • Wivenhoe & University - less than three
  • Marks Tey & Wakes Colne - less than three

Colchester's average infection rate in the week to May 17 was 6.7 cases per 100,000 people.

This has dropped dramatically from a week earlier when the rate was 18 cases per 100,000 people.

Tendring's average infection rate in this week was 6.1 cases per 100,000 people, with nine cases recorded.

The district's rate has dropped from 15.7 cases per 100,000 people compared with a week earlier.
