THE big screen is returning to Castle Park this summer as part of a new four-day festival of films and food.

The Colchester Outdoor Film and Street Food Festival is a collaboration between Colchester Events and Pop-Up Pictures.

Taking place this August, there will be 12 classic movies as well as a pop-up street food market with flavours from across the globe.

The market line-up includes favourites like The Flag Burger, Cowabunga Pizza, Mauritian Nutrition, Sweet P’s BBQ & soul food, Suffolk Spice Fusion as well as Obscene Waffles and Ravenous Fudge.

Movies will be screened day and night on the large LED screen in the park.

Thursday, August 4:

  • Labyrinth - 6pm
  • Lost Boys - 9pm

Friday, August 6:

  • Lion King (2019) - 1pm
  • Jungle Book (2016) - 3pm
  • Top Gun - 6.30pm
  • Rock Horror Picture Show - 9.15pm

Saturday, August 7:

  • Mamma Mia - 1pm
  • Dirty Dancing - 3pm
  • The Greatest Showman - 6.30pm
  • Grease - 9.15pm

Sunday, August 8:

  • The Goonies - 1pm
  • Back to the Future - 3pm

Two for one and all-day passes are set to be available.

Cinema-goers are welcome to bring their own picnic by purchasing a Picnic Pass when booking their tickets.

Alcohol is not permitted, however, there will be a licensed bar inside the park for those after a tipple.

Early bird tickets are on sale now from £9.50 per adult.

One child goes free with each paying adult to the showings suitable for children.

The venue will have hand sanitiser stations and there is plenty of space for social distancing inside the park.

Safe queue systems will be in place with toilets undergoing an enhanced cleaning regime during the four-day festival
