A BABY hare rescued by members of the North East Essex Clinical Commissioning Group is set to be released into the wild.
The young hare, who has been nicknamed Kenny Leveret, was saved by the group’s engagement manager Katie Sargeant and is continuing to gain weight each day while he is in their care.
Katie said she saved him from “a nasty fracas” in Suffolk about a month ago and has been nurturing him back to health for weeks.
"I was in Woolpit with my dad and daughters and we saw a hare chasing a crow, which was unusual," she said.
"We then saw a crow attacking a mother hare and it then picked up a baby hare in its beak.
"The crow let the baby hare go and the injured mother ran away, so we took him home and named him Kenny."
A spokesman for the group said he is gaining between 50g and 70g in weight each day.
