A TEAM of football mad girls are ready to take on all opposition after a grant funded new equipment for the side.
The under-13 girls side at Stanway Rovers Youth Football Club scored the £250 team sports award provided by UK Power Networks.
The money will help them buy new bibs, balls and kit for use in training sessions.
The award was given through Jim Vasey, who works for the company and helps out at training.
His daughter, Phoebe, joined the team this season.
He said: “It’s a great scheme showing the company’s commitment to social and development opportunities for youngsters.
“This is great news for the team and will enable them to purchase a new kit which they thoroughly deserve.”
There are already 185 girls playing for the club across all age groups, and Mr Vasey is hoping they can build this up to 200.
The equipment will be used for training on Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
