A PROLIFIC shoplifter has admitted to stealing meat and alcohol from shops across Colchester.
Daniel Bannerman, 30, appeared at Colchester Magistrates' Court on Friday charged with 27 counts of shoplifting and one public order offence.
The court heard he had been entering Co-op stores and One Stop shops across the district and stealing mostly meat and alcohol.

Bannerman, of no fixed abode, admitted the charges and has been remanded in custody until a sentencing hearing.
The shoplifter was snared following an investigation by Colchester's town centre policing team.
