NURSING stars at Colchester Hospital have been recognised by the NHS’s chief nurse.

Ruth May, who is from Colchester, visited the hospital to hand out awards to the team in recognition of their contribution to patients and the profession.

Tissue viability nurses Clare Buck and Laura Wild and musculoskeletal matron Louie Horne were handed silver chief nursing officer awards.

Lymphedema practitioner Libby Gray was presented with a gold award for lifetime achievement.

During her visit, Mrs May also signed the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) rainbow display board.

The board is signed by medics who have spent time working in ICU during the pandemic including Mrs May who did some shifts in Colchester Hospital’s ICU.
