HEALTH experts will be answering questions people may have relating to the Covid vaccine, fertility, pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Pregnant women are now set to be offered a Covid vaccination when other people their age get one.

The event, being hosted the Maternity Voices Partnership in partnership with the Suffolk and North East Essex Integrated Care System , is being held on Friday at noon. Anyone who is planning conception, is pregnant or is a new mother is encouraged to join.

Mel Lewis from the Maternity Voices Partnership, said: “This is an event that will be much appreciated by our members who have several questions about the vaccine and any possible effect it may have on maternity, breastfeeding, pregnancy and fertility.”

Lisa Nobes, ICS director of nursing, said: “Although pregnant women are at no greater risk of being infected by the virus they are more likely to experience complications from Covid-19. Data shows that one in five pregnant women who become infected need to have their baby delivered early.

“Vaccination offers the best protection, but it is wholly understandable that pregnant women may have concerns for their unborn baby. Those who are planning pregnancy may have questions about whether the vaccine will affect their ability to conceive and new mothers may wish to discuss the effects of vaccination on breastfeeding.

“The panel experts have decades of maternity experience and will be happy to answer any questions or concerns.”
