ALMOST all parts of Colchester have recorded nearly zero Covid cases in the latest week, new figures show.

According to the Government's latest hotspots map, four parts of the borough recorded three or more cases in the week to April 11.

The rest of the borough has recorded less than three, meaning the virus is classed as "suppressed" in these areas.

They are not recorded on the hotspots map any longer.

The only areas which saw three or more cases were Highwoods, which recorded five, New Town and Hythe, which recorded 4, Abbey Field, which recorded 4, and Layer-de-la-Haye, Abberton adn Mersea East, which recorded 3.

Colchester's average Covid infection rate has risen slight compared with a week earlier.

It is now 14.4 cases per 100,000 people.

This is because there were 28 cases of Covid confirmed in the borough in the week to April 12.

The average infection rate has increased from 12.8 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier.

Tendring's average infection rate was 13 cases per 100,000 people in the week to April 12.

This is down from 16.4 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier.
