ALMOST all neighbours in Colchester remain nearly 'Covid free', according to the latest data.

According to the Government's latest hotspots map, just three parts of the borough recorded three or more cases in the week to April 8.

The rest of the borough has recorded less than three, meaning the virus is classed as "suppressed" in these areas.

They are not recorded on the hotspots map any longer.

The three areas which recorded three or more cases during this week were - Highwoods with 5, Abbey Field with 4 and Prettygate and Westlands with 3.

  • Prettygate & Westlands - 3
  • Mile End and Braiswick - less than three
  • Greenstead - less than three
  • Monkwick - less than three
  • New Town & Hythe - less than three
  • Stanway - less than three
  • Wivenhoe & University - less than three
  • Marks Tey & Wakes Colne - less than three
  • West Bergholt & Wormingford - less than three
  • Layer-de-la-Haye, Abberton & Mersea East - less than three
  • West Mersea - less than three
  • Parson's Heath - less than three
  • Central Colchester - less than three
  • Lexden - less than three
  • Horkesley Heath, Langham & Dedham - less than three
  • Old Heath & Rowhedge - less than three
  • Shrub End - less than three
  • Tiptree - less than three

Colchester's average Covid infection rate has dropped dramatically with less than 20 cases recorded in the latest seven day period.

According to the latest data the borough's average infection rate in the week to April 9 was 9.2 cases per 100,000 people.

There were just 18 Covid cases recorded across the borough during this seven day period.

Colchester's infection rate is also half what it was a week earlier, when it was 19 cases per 100,000.

Tendring's average infection rate was 12.3 cases per 100,000 people in the week to April 9.

This is down from 24.6 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier on April 2.
