CYCLISTS from the Eighth Bradford Boys Brigade who rode around Eccleshill Memorial Church, Laisterdyke 1400 times to raise money for brigade funds.

Twelve boys took part in the mission, in March 1973. They circled the church three at a time and expected to raise about £40.

The event lasted four hours, 30 minutes, and between them the boys, aged between eight and 12, cycled more than 100 miles.

Organiser Stuart Jessop, one of the brigade leaders, said it was the first time the boys had attempted a project of this sort.
