As tributes pour remembering the long life of Prince Philip, we have taken a look back at some of his visits from across the decades.
In 1953, the Duke visited the county while the country was still going through rationing and feeling the effects of the Second World War.
A year before his visit saw the death of King George VI, which that led to the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II.
Her Majesty was made Queen following her accession on February 6, 1952.

The Duke of Edinburgh's death was announced today by Buckingham Palace.
He was married to the Queen for more than 70 years and dedicated decades of his life to royal duty, serving the nation at the monarch’s side.
He officially retired from public engagements in the summer of 2017.
The Palace said in a statement: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.
“Further announcements will made in due course.
“The Royal Family join with people around the world in mourning his loss.”
