A POPULAR big-name bar chain has announced it will be reopening its Colchester venue on Monday.

Yates, in Head Street, will reopen to outside drinkers and diners from Monday.

Stonegate Group, which owns the pub, says new measures have been introduced to protect staff and customers.

External signage has been installed setting out the safety measures in place.

Enhanced cleaning regimes have been introduced with table service only and contactless payments available.

Customers will place their orders on an app before food and drinks are delivered to table.

A spokesman for Yates Colchester said: "We are looking forward to welcoming people back through our doors on April 12.

"Our priority remains the safety and wellbeing of our teams and customers, whilst ensuring everyone is able to enjoy and make the most out of their long-awaited visit to our venues.”

Stonegate Group is reopening 45 per cent of its pubs on Monday with the remaining sites opening through May and June as restrictions continue to be eased.
