A CRICKET coaching academy is looking to bring back the buzz around cricket in the Braintree area.

360 Cricket have partnered with Braintree Cricket Club and Coggeshall Town Cricket Club to get more children active, this summer.

By working with local cricket clubs, 360 Cricket aim to get more children playing and enjoying sport after the latest lockdown.

360 Cricket co-founder and PE teacher Lloyd Edwards has a very personal relationship with sport in the area.

He said: “I grew up playing many different sports around the town for teams such as Braintree Cricket Club, Sporting 77 and Braintree Lawn Tennis Club.

"For me sport is a necessity for many children as it allows them to develop so many essential life skills whilst exercising and enjoying the outdoors.

"As the current first team captain at Coggeshall Town Cricket Club I love seeing young players develop and make their way into adult cricket.

"My passion for coaching and forging a career out of it (as a cricket coach and secondary PE teacher) is mainly due to the late great Tom Gould who was my coach for many years at Braintree Cricket Club.

"He instilled in me that sport should be accessible for all and that it’s about fun and engagement first, and not just the winning aspect.

"Robbie Gunn (co-founder of 360 Cricket) and myself truly believe that cricket should be a sport for all, and we are working hard to break down barriers and the stigma that cricket is a sport for the select few.

"I would love to see cricket grow within the Braintree area as I have a lot of love for both of the clubs that we are partnership with."

Both Braintree CC and Coggeshall Town CC are opening their doors to children of all ages and abilities, this summer.

Alongside 360 Cricket, both clubs will be running 12 weeks of weekly coaching sessions for all ages groups.
