ONE part of Colchester has seen its Covid rate increased by 450 per cent in the space of a week.

The latest figures, for the seven days to March 23, show Monkwick has seen its rate increase more than four fold compared with a week earlier.

Seven other parts of the borough have also seen their Covid rates increase in the space of a week.

However, nine parts of the town have had less than three cases during the week to March 23.

This means the virus is classed as "suppressed" in these parts of Colchester.

Colchester's average infection rate in the week to March 23 was 46.7 cases per 100,000 people.
