A SECURITY worker who jumped into a lake to rescue a hospital patient has received an award for his heroic actions.
Calvin Reid did not think twice before getting into the lake on Colchester Hospital’s grounds after a patient left their ward and jumped in.
The patient was taken back to the safety of the hospital and, after a quick change out of his soggy uniform into scrubs, Calvin returned back to work.
As a way of thanking Calvin, the East Suffolk and North Essex Foundation Trust, which runs Colchester Hospital, presented him with a commendation.
A spokesman for the trust said: “We’re saying thank you today to security colleague Calvin who went in at the deep end on a tricky day at work.
