HERITAGE bosses issued a warning after reports ducks were being taken from a historic mill site in Colchester.
National Trust Essex used Facebook to warn its followers after reports from members of the public of the birds being taken from Bourne Mill, in Bourne Road.
Bourne Mill is a grade-I listed mill building first built as a fishing lodge in 1591.
Wildlife lives happily in the adjoining pond as well as the nearby woods.

National Trust Essex posted on Facebook: "We are grateful to members of the community that recently reported some ducks being taken from the pond at Bourne Mill.
"We work closely with our local partners to manage the area for people and nature.
"National Trust do not permit the removal of these animals from our land.
"If you see any activity to attempt to try to remove any wildfowl, please report the matter to the police, and we are grateful for you bringing it to our attention."
