FOUR McDonalds restaurants in Colchester are supporting Colchester Foodbank through the donation of thousands of items.

All the 500 staff and managers in the branches have been donating items for the past three weeks and the branches finally handed over all the items to the foodbank. In total, they weighed of a third of a tonne.

Michael Beckett, Colchester Foodbank’s chief officer said: “We are delighted to receive support from our local Colchester McDonalds team, helping Colchester Foodbank charity to help over a thousand people a month who are in crisis.

“Over a third of those we help are children and we are the busiest foodbank in Essex.

“We offer a big thank you to our supporters as without regular givers of time, money and food from the community, like McDonalds staff and managers, we wouldn’t be able to keep up with the growing demand we receive from the frontline agencies we work with, like Social Workers and Citizens Advice who refer their clients to us for help.”
