A MUM who was made redundant from her job took a new direction - and solved her daughter’s sleep problems.

Sam Poulton has gone from losing her job during the pandemic to now running her own business.

Sam, 35, who lives in Colchester, previously worked in events at some of the UK’s biggest music festivals including Reading Festival, Radio 1 Big Weekend, Latitude and the BBC Proms.

She said: “When I lost my marketing job, I decided to completely retrain.

“I tapped into my interest in psychology and first hand experience of months of sleep deprivation and studied to become a certified child sleep consultant.

“While studying with leading child sleep expert Lucy Shrimpton from The Sleep Nanny I applied what I had learnt to my daughter’s sleep.

“Having previously experienced the mental and physical strain of months of sleepless nights, within 16 days I was able to successfully get her to sleep through 12 hours consistently.

“As I had seen the results of the methods, it was wonderful to set up Karma’s Lullaby to help other families who may be at breaking point.

“I love sharing the immense relief that peaceful 7pm baby bedtimes and smiling 7am wake-ups can bring,

“I now work to educate families who may simply need a few tips or feel they’re at their wits’ end.

“Common problems include children suffering disturbed sleep throughout the night, youngsters who won’t stay in their bed, sleeping independently and toddlers who battle bedtimes.”

She added: “As someone who has suffered with anxiety since the age of 14 and worked on managing it since the age of 30, I’m a firm believer in finding solutions to overcome things that hold you back.

“Insufficient sleep can hugely impact both the physical and mental health of parents and children.

"I offer regular free advice online, as well as my paid gentle and holistic 1-2-1 support service.”
