SIX parts of Colchester have Covid infection rates above the average for England, according to the latest figures.

A map produced using Government figures show the number of Covid cases in each part of the borough.

It also shows the infection rate for each area as well as how this compared with the rest of the country.

The data shows six parts of Colchester have an infection rate above the national average.

The highest infection rates, which are calculated by the number of cases per 100,000 people, are currently in Parson's heath and Greenstead.

However Covid cases remain so low in five areas figures the infection rate is not recorded.

These are the number of cases reported in each part of Colchester in the seven days to March 4. The places in bold have an infection rate above the England average:

  • Abbey Field - 5
  • Prettygate & Westlands - 4
  • Stanway - 4
  • Monkwick - 4
  • Layer-de-la-Haye, Abberton & Mersea East - less than 3
  • West Mersea - less than 3
  • Tiptree - less than 3
  • West Bergholt & Wormingford - less than 3
  • Horkesley Heath, Langham & Dedham - less than 3

Colchester's average infection rate is now 63.7 cases per 100,000 people.

The rate has dropped from 90.9 cases per 100,000 people compared with a week earlier.

Tendring's infection rate is now 54.6 cases per 100,000 people, down from 96.2 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier.
