A PERVERT who uploaded a video of his sexual assault to a pornographic website also shared a link to his victim’s Facebook page.

James Roberts, 32, uploaded the clip of him performing a sex act on a sleeping woman, which was viewed more than 67,000 times.

Chelmsford Crown Court heard how he also posted a link to the victim’s Facebook account, which police used to track down the victim.

Police first searched Roberts’ home in Carisbrooke Avenue, Clacton, in July 2019, seizing electronic devices.

On a hard drive, 12 images at category A, three at category B and 153 at category C were found.

The court heard they depicted girls aged between 14 and 17.

A further image at category C was found on a computer, depicting a girl between the age of 12 and 14 and an image of category B on an iPad.

They also found Roberts had caused a child, aged between 14 and 16, to watch him performing a sex act on himself.

On a phone, police found evidence of messages sent out by Roberts advertising weights and variants of cannabis.

He admitted sexual assault, three counts of making indecent images of children, one count of taking an indecent image of a child, one count of causing a child to look at an image of sexual activity and being concerned in the supply of cannabis.

Roberts has no previous convictions and had entered an early guilty plea.

Recorder Kainth said he must follow guidelines in relation to such sexual offences.

He said after taking photographs of the sleeping victim without her knowledge, he “hadn’t stopped there”.

“You uploaded onto the internet and I’m told the video has been viewed over 60,000 times," he said.

“To perpetuate your culpability, you provide a link so that people can see her Facebook page.

“That would cause her, without a shadow of doubt, humiliation. I think to suggest otherwise would be nonsensical.

“These are serious matters indeed.”

Roberts was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment.
