WALKERS should be aware that various footpaths are temporarily closing.

They include a popular route linking Stanway and Layer De La Haye.

Footpath 31, in Stanway, is shutting from its junction with Olivers Lane through to footpath four, in Layer.

It will close from Saturday and is due to reopen next Friday, while works are carried out to Chest Wood B Footbridge.

* Colchester’s footpath 100 is closing on Saturday, from its junction with Wells Road.

It will remain shut until April 2 while the Wells Road footbridge is repaired and the alternative route will take in Highfields Lane and Guildford Road.

* A footpath has closed in Dedham.

Footpath 22 has shut between the sports pavilion and Duchy Barn Shed.

It is so the path can be resurfaced and bollard lights are installed.

The closure is due to remain in effect until April 3.

 

* Look out for a new speed restriction in Frinton and Walton.

The limit along Kirby Road is currently 40mph, but that has been reduced to 30mph.

The change will affect the stretch from Pork Lane to the junction with Thorpe Road and Frinton Road.

* Anglian Water are carrying out work in Colchester Road, Bures.

It will shut on consecutive Sundays from a point near its junction with Hamlet Court, on March 21 and March 28.

An alternative route is available via North Station roundabout, Northern Approach Road, Nayland Road roundabout, Wildeve Avenue, Nayland Road, The Causeway, Horkesley Hill, Nayland Bypass, Harpers Hill, Honey Tye, Colchester Road, Further Street, Assington Road, Sudbury Road, Newton Road, Northern Road, Shawlands Avenue and Cornard Road.

* Essex County Council is planning work in Glen Avenue, Colchester.

The road will close from its junctions with Cymbeline Way and Lexden Road, for five days from March 25.

It is because of carriageway patching works.

An alternative route is available via Lexden Road, London Road, Cymbeline Way, Spring Lane roundabout, Cymbeline Way, Colne Bank Avenue, Colne Bank Avenue roundabout and back along Cymbeline Way.

* Look out for a temporary road closure in Weeley.

High Birch Road is shutting for a week from March 23 from its junction at Frowick Lane.

The closure is required while duct laying works are undertaken by BT.

Drivers can use an alternative route which is via High Birch Road, Heath Road, Newhouse Farm Road, Rectory Road, Mill Lane and Bentley Road.

* A footpath is being repaired in Mumford Road, West Bergholt.

However, it means the road will close from its junctions with Lexden Road and Donard Drive, for four days from March 22.

An alternative route is available via Lexden Road, Chapel Road and Donard Drive.

* E S Pipelines Ltd is planning service connection works in Robinson Road, Brightlingsea. It means the road will close for five days from March 22.

An alternative route is available via Robinson Road, Bell Green, Chapel Road, Hurst Green, Mill Street, East End Green and Freelands.
