JOBSEEKERS can pick up some top tips from a business executive in the next event at Brightlingsea’s WinterFest.

The free interactive workshop is being hosted by Andy Blanche, a highly experienced executive who has interviewed and employed hundreds of people.

WinterFest is Brightlingsea’s annual event seeking to banish the winter blues and promote a feel-good factor in the town.

The session is a new initiative for WinterFest and, taking place on February 17 at 11am, is part of 22 online events this year.

During his workshop Andy, 61, will give expert guidance and practical help on writing a winning CV and preparing for interviews, developing a confident and effective approach to finding a job.

The workshop is suitable for school leavers, those due to leave school this year, university students and anyone aged 16 and over seeking a job, or a change of career.

Andy, who lives in Brightlingsea, had a top-level career with BT for 27 years and gained widespread recognition for his energy, vision and creativity.

Many of the business deals he delivered for BT topped the £100 million mark.

He now runs his own consulting business, 3rdye associates which provides support, strategic guidance and training to prestigious clients.

Mr Blanche said: “Many people are very reluctant to recognise and write positive things about themselves. It seems more often to be about confidence than competence.

“I work with people to expose their strengths and give them greater self belief.

“My motivation for becoming involved in WinterFest is giving something back.

“I moved here in my early 50s and after a successful business career wanted to use the fund of knowledge I had accumulated to help people in my new home town.”
