A MAN has been detained following an armed stand-off where he climbed onto a roof.
The arrest came last night following a six-hour stand off yesterday in Oban Road, Southend.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We attended a property in Oban Road, Southend on Wednesday February 10 as part of an on-going enquiry.
"A man had climbed on to a roof just after 5pm. Specialist officers attended.
"The man later presented himself to officers.
"A 30-year-old man was arrested at 11.20pm on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and is currently detained."
