ADORABLE footage shared by Colchester Zoo's animal care team shows even baby rhinos enjoy playing in the snow.

Heavy snow has been falling in north Essex since Sunday after Storm Darcy, dubbed the Beast from the East II, swept across the country.

Over the past few days many of the zoo’s animals have enjoyed having fun in the thick snow powder which has covered the 60-acre site.

The tigers were even caught on camera frolicking around with a snowman built in their enclosure by the zookeepers.

Jenny the sheep was also lucky enough to have her own little snowman built for her by staff.

The wolves looked right at home in the artic conditions, and many of the zoo’s otters could not resist having a dig in the deep snow.

A spokesman for the Zoo said: “During the recent cold snap many of our animals have been enjoying the snowfall whilst others prefer to be tucked up in the warm.

“No matter the weather our Animal Care Team makes sure the animals have somewhere warm and dry to go and plenty of tasty food.

“However, during these times your support is more important than ever as our bills increase whilst our gates remain closed.”

Despite the zoo gates remaining closed and no regular income for now, the animal care team are there every day ensuring all the animals are well cared for as usual.
