I WAS attracted to the positive Gazette comments and letters about the vaccine roll-out.

To this end, I received an unexpected early birthday present. Earlier in the week, my wife, who is in the extremely vulnerable group, had notification of her vaccination to be administered at St James Surgery, Clacton.

Come Saturday, I accompanied her and witnessed a highly-professional process by the staff.

Vast numbers of patients snaked in the front door and exited at the surgery’s rear door, likened to a well-drilled military operation.

With Storm Darcy imminent, on returning home, I decided to fill the bird feeder. At this point my wife called me in to take a call from the surgery, talk about being in the right place at the right time.

To my surprise, I was being offered an opportunity to have the Covid jab straight away.

The whole procedure from the house to surgery and back was eight minutes!

Next day, the snowstorm hit Clacton, heavily disrupting vaccination services for all those people, like us shielding and following the Government pandemic rules.

Let’s hope within a short period, the roll-out will be up and running again offering protection and reassurance to its patients.
