The number of people testing positive for coronavirus in Colchester has fallen again - with nearly every area now having fewer than 50 cases.

The Government's coronavirus map shows how each area in the borough has been impacted.

The data can also be compared to show how the number of new cases has changed over different time periods.

In the seven days to February 3 it shows all but one area in Colchester now has fewer than 50 cases.

Stanway has 55 cases and is one of only two areas to see rates rise in the last seven days.

The other area was Abbey Field where there are 32 cases.

Prettygate and Westlands have fewer than three positive Covid cases.

It comes as the Government said a further 333 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Monday, bringing the UK total to 112,798.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 130,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

The Government also said that, as of 9am on Monday, there had been a further 14,104 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 3,959,784.
