POLICE issued a warning over snow and ice on the A120.
Essex Police Tendring said the weather was making conditions on roads around the county difficult.
A spokesman urged people not to travel on Sunday unless it was essential.
He said: "Ice and snow on the A120 between the Ramsey roundabout and Horsley Cross means vehicles are struggling to navigate the stretch and are becoming stuck.
"Please avoid the area.
"We are working with partners to grit and clear roads across the county but we’re urging you not to travel unless it is essential.
"If you do have an essential journey to make, please remember adjust your driving to the conditions, reduce your speed and increase the distance to other vehicles."
The Met Office had issued an amber weather warning for snow and ice.
Conditions had not improved much by Monday morning.
The spokesman added: "Whatever the weather they will continue keeping you safe, and catching criminals as well as dealing with clear and blatant breaches of the Government’s Covid-19 regulations."
