A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after she was hit by a car.
The woman was struck by a red Ford Galaxy in Upper Mayne, Basildon, around 9.30pm yesterday.
The pedestrian, who is aged in her 30s, was rushed to hospital soon after.
A police spokesman said: "We are appealing for witnesses who saw what happened, particularly any driver who may have stopped to help but left before police arrived.

"The collision happened near the junction with Broadmayne.
