Police discovered more than 270 cannabis plants after executing a drugs warrant in Colchester.
Officers from the Colchester Community Policing Team raided an address on The Willows estate in south Colchester on Friday.
They were following up on reports and concerns raised by members of the community.
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "The officers used our special key that "eventually" gets us in to most properties.
"In excess of 270 cannabis plants have been recovered and a 26-year-old male has been arrested.
"This is not grown for medicinal purposes like im sure some people will say, but grown for financial gain of an organised crime group, who will happily cause harm to our communities and the people within them.
"To those who will say it should be legalised - it isn't and therefore we will continue to deal with it."
