COVID cases have fallen in every part of Colchester over the last week, new figures have revealed.

West Bergholt and Wormingford has seen the biggest week on week drop in the borough, with the case rate dropping 67.6 per cent.

The area's infection rate is also the lowest in the borough at 168.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Prettygate and Westlands has also seen a huge drop compared to seven days ago.

It's case rate has dropped by 52.6 per cent with the infection rate in the area now 369.2 cases per 100,000 people.

No area has seen an increase compared with a week ago.

A day earlier both Horkesley Heath, Langham and Dedham and Old Heath and Rowhedge had seen a week on week increase.

A map uses Government data to show the infection rates and case numbers for each area of Colchester.

The figures are for the seven days to January 22.

  • New Town and Hythe - 475.4 (-32.2 per cent)
  • Central Colchester - 439.3 (-34.6 per cent)
  • Stanway - 394 (-46.3 per cent)
  • Greenstead - 375.3 (-27.1 per cent)
  • West Mersea - 370.6 (-20.6 per cent)
  • Prettygate and Westlands - 369.2 (-52.6 per cent)

Colchester's average infection rate also continues to fall.

It is now 436 cases per 100,000 people after 849 cases were confirmed in the week to January 23.

This is down from 578.8 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier.

Tendring's infection rate has fallen to 563.6 cases per 100,000 people.

This has dropped from 857 cases per 100,000 people a week earlier.
