POLICE say they are hoping to trace a vehicle following a burglary at a town shop.

Officers with Essex Police are investigaing following a burglary at a Coggeshall shop on Tuesday, January 19.

Essex Police received reports of a burglary at about 12.45am in East Street.

Reports said two men were seen smashing a glass window at the East of England Co-op Food Store and leaving with a large quantity of cigarettes.

Police say the men were seen leaving in a silver or grey car, the registration plate of which is not known.

An Essex Police spokesman said: "Witnesses were unsure of the make and model, but believed it was a Vauxhall Corsa or a Honda.

"It was seen travelling along East Street, Bridge Street and Scrips Road, and was last seen in Cut Hedge Lane heading towards Bradwell.

"We are carrying out further enquiries and are keen to speak to any residents along this route who have CCTV or doorbell camera footage from around the time of the burglary.

"We’d also like to hear from anyone who was driving in the area and has dash cam footage.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact the Braintree local policing team quoting reference 42/9823/21."
