A COLCHESTER magician will be helping to celebrate the 100th anniversary of an iconic magic trick.

Sunday marks 100 years since PT Selbit performed the famous sawing in half illusion.

Performed at Finsbury Park Empire it has become an iconic trick and is still performed to this day.

To mark the occasion The Magic Circle is streaming a special show looking back at the history of the illusion and talking to some of the industry’s biggest names.

Michael J Fitch, 42, from Marks Tey, will be presenting the show.

His whirlwind career has seen him star in his own TV magic shows, take residency at Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen and perform at The Queen's Golden Jubilee, in what he described as the highlight of his career.

Michael has been helping the Magic Circle produce content for its Facebook page during the pandemic. He said: “Even 100 years later it is still one of the first things people think of with magicians.

“It is one of the magic things which has stuck with everybody.”
