A WOMAN in her 20s has died following after a car overturned near Wimbish.

Emergency services were called after a Nissan Micra overturned on the B184 Thaxted Road in Howlett End.

It happened at about 9.10pm on Friday, December 4.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Sadly a woman, who is aged in her 20s died at the scene, despite the best efforts of the emergency services.

"A 25-year-old man from the Dunmow area was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

"He was taken to hospital before being taken into custody, where he remains for questioning.

"We are looking to identify two members of the public who assisted in helping to remove the people from the car.

"It is believed they left the scene after emergency services arrived before their details could be obtained.

"We'd also like to speak to any drivers who were in the area at the time and have dash cam footage of a blue Nissan Micra, or anyone living in the area who has CCTV."
