AN award-winning Leigh business is toasting a huge £2million deal to sell its range of protein snacks in Canada.

Boostball, based in Rutherford Close, Leigh, will now see its products sold at century-old Candian supermarket, Sobeys, from January 2021.

A trial last month earned £35,000 worth of extra business for Boostball.

Now, a new factory in Canada is in the pipeline, with the firm already hiring two new members of staff during the pandemic and eyeing a £1million turnover next year.

It comes as it was announced that the UK has secured a rollover trade deal with Canada.

Boostball sales director, Francesca Kerr, said: “All our protein snacks are made with seven raw cold pressed ingredients, contain key vitamins and minerals and taste amazing.

“We manufacture everything in our Essex factory and adhere to strict health and safety practices which is important to our Canadian customers.

“Our international trade adviser helped us create an export strategy, strengthen our digital presence and develop our packaging labels in French as well as English, which is why we can sell across Canada.”

Consumers in Canada will have access to Boostball’s low-carbohydrate keto range, already sold throughout the UK in Boots and Holland & Barrett

Canadian shoppers will now have access to Boostball’s whole range of protein energy balls, nut butters and powders.

The UK’s continued trade deal with Canada, confirmed on Saturday, allows for tariff-free access for 98 per cent of all UK products exported there.

Thinley Topden, the department’s East of England deputy head of trade, added: “I’m delighted that East of England businesses like Boostball are making great strides in Canada and welcome the opportunities this trade agreement will give to the region’s economy, by helping our businesses export to Canada.

“I would encourage businesses in the East of England to contact our team to see how we can help you discover exciting export opportunities in Canada.”

The Department for International Trade helped the business attend the ISM trade show in February in Germany - where it met the new customers.

Boostball, which was founded in 2014, will soon announce an exciting deal with a UK supermarket.
